The Practice Is in the Return
In a resonance economy, frequency beats frenzy. The return is how we tune.
I woke up feeling disconnected and uninspired. My energy felt off. I caught myself questioning everything about my business, from my distant approach to social and the client who passed last week, to whether I should launch a course (and become just another coach pushing a digital product)…
So I went to yoga.
And in the midst of class, the teacher offered a cue we've all heard before: "If your mind wanders, remember that the practice is in the return."
Which got me thinking about practice. In meditation, the practice isn’t a blank mind, but returning to your breath when you notice thoughts creep in. In embodiment, it isn’t perfect awareness, but feeling your body again the moment you realize you checked out.
The practice is in the return. Every time.
Business as Practice
So I asked myself: "What do I need to return to today? What do I need to reconnect to?"
The answer? My business: why I created Terre~Prana in the first place.
We rarely talk about business as a practice, but it changes everything when we do. Your work, your brand, your leadership are not performances to perfect, but living practices you return to. You will drift. You will question your direction. The point is not to avoid the drift. The point is to shorten the distance back.
When you treat business as a practice, pressure softens into curiosity. You compare less and listen more. The measure isn’t how straight your path looks. It’s how willing you are to come back to your core and begin again.
We’re shifting into what I call a resonance economy, where alignment carries more weight than output. Every time you return to your core, you tune your frequency. That frequency tuning is world-building in practice, one honest choice at a time.
World-building looks like:
how you price and why
what you refuse to rush
the tone of your emails
the offers you retire
the promises you keep
So many of us are activating daily, noticing clues to our higher purpose. I genuinely believe each of us has a gift to contribute to the world we’re building. Whether we file an LLC or not, that is our business.
When we strip business back like this, it’s easier to return to.
I created Terre~Prana to help founders slow down enough to hear themselves, to build brands that feel like truth, and to create conditions where alignment can take root. When I return to that purpose, the noise gets quiet. It isn’t about my next TikTok post. It isn’t about forcing a launch. It’s about resonance, service, and honesty.
That reminder brought me back into my body. The “shoulds” softened. One next step became clear, then the next. For me, the return feels like an exhale, a small homecoming, momentum without strain, creative flow.
A Simple Return Ritual
Somatic return
Stand or sit with both feet grounded. Inhale for a slow count of four and feel the breath drop into your belly. On the exhale, relax your jaw and shoulders, and notice one sensation in your body. Name the drift out loud, then name what you are returning to. Let three cycles of breath be enough to begin again.
Business return
Open your notes and write a single sentence: "The purpose of my work is..." Say it out loud until it feels true in your body. List three actions that express that purpose today. Circle one and do only that. Trust that action taken from return creates more clarity than action taken from pressure.
Reflection
Where have you drifted away from your core in your work?
What helps you notice the drift sooner?
What one sentence returns you to your purpose right now?
What is one small action you can take from that place today?
Mantra
Come back. Begin again. Let the return be the way.
