This Mother’s Day, my only request was to sleep in and have a little uninterrupted time to myself. No brunch. No day out with the family. Just catching up on the things that bring me back to myself (some cleaning, gardening, and blissfully lazy scroll time).
Essentially, don't ask Mom for snacks today.
The first two had me feeling inspired. I had time alone with my thoughts, a quiet rhythm that let my mind wander and stretch. Ideas sparked. Everything felt open and fluid. But when I sat down to scroll, I felt it shift. The spaciousness collapsed. The thread I was following slipped away. The field changed. It wasn’t that scrolling was inherently bad, it’s that my perception shifted. Instead of feeling inspired by what I saw, I started measuring myself against it. That subtle comparison was enough to pull me out of flow and into a quieter form of static.
Later this week, I re-listened to an episode of Femme & Flow, and this quote lit something up:
"Are you in theta as a creator or a sponge? Are you expressing your design or escaping discomfort? When your tone is clear, theta becomes a temple. But if your field is chaotic, it can become a trap."
That’s exactly what I had experienced.
I was clearly craving some quiet time for my brain—that lovely, dreamy state where ideas have room to take shape. When we think about theta, we often think of painting, writing, walking, and meditation. But we fail to realize that our brain enters the same theta state when scrolling, reading, or watching TV. This quote reminds us that the quality of our presence matters just as much as the practice.
Are we entering a theta state as transmitters, expressing our design, channeling from a clear field, building from Source?
Or are we entering as sponges, soaking in distortion, bypassing discomfort, or unconsciously absorbing noise from the collective?
The answer isn’t to avoid this dream state if it isn't productive, but to enter it with discernment, coherence, and intention. A clear tone means your energy is aligned with your truth—you're not mimicking someone else’s frequency or performing for approval. A stable field means your boundaries are strong and your nervous system is grounded—you're not porous to external static or subtle manipulation. When your tone is clear and your field is stable and sourced, theta becomes a temple for creation. Your own personal lab to explore and birth ideas.
Theta as a Frequency, Not a Fix
Theta states are porous. They open us to ideas, inspiration, and connection… but they also open the door to noise. For many of us, especially founders navigating a high-stimulation world, theta becomes a default. We drop into it during walks, journaling, zoning out, or watching content. Sometimes that’s nourishing. Sometimes it’s a sneaky detour. Our brains need the break.
The key isn’t to shut down flow. It’s to become more conscious of what you’re tuning into when you enter that dreamy, receptive state. Is it your own guidance and vision or someone else’s storyline, fears, or projections?
That’s where this framework from the podcast helped me clarify:
Black Hole Theta → unconscious absorption
(scrolling, overconsumption, fear-driven loops)Bridge Theta → healing and discernment
(EFT, guided meditations, hypnotherapy)White Hole Theta → creation and resonance
(designing, writing, channeling your truth)
Most of us move between them. The goal isn’t perfection, it’s presence. Knowing when you’ve slipped into sponge mode and how to reclaim your signal.
What I’m Noticing in My Work
What I’m noticing in so many founders and creatives I work with is this: they’re already spending time in theta. Whether through walks, journaling, or their creative practice, they’re naturally wired to enter flow. But without clear energetic awareness, that flow can start to feel muddy. Intuition gets second-guessed. Inspiration gets clouded by comparison or doubt.
This is where Source Signature becomes such a powerful tool. It helps clarify your personal frequency—your design for how you lead, express, and create. When you understand your tone, you’re able to trust what’s coming through and tune out the rest. You don’t just drop into theta, you sculpt from it.
"As the collective continues to awaken, these old energetic loops have nowhere to root. They dissolve in the presence of sovereignty. They collapse under the weight of coherence. Because energy can't be destroyed, but it can be transmuted."
When you stabilize in sovereignty, you stop feeding the noise. And what once overwhelmed you becomes compost for your next creation.
So next time you feel yourself drifting into that mental dream space, pause and ask: Am I entering theta to tune in or to tune out?
Is this flow supporting my vision, or feeding someone else’s?
Then transmute it into something beautiful.
