It’s certainly hot enough here in LA to feel like we’re still in peak summer so I’m personally not letting it go that easily. In fact, I took myself to the beach this weekend, solo, after attending a truly transformative Sound Healing Training session. I didn’t have to rush home so I just sat there and allowed the rhythm of the waves and the late day sun to help me integrate all the new information I had learned that day.

And it donned on me just how rarely we pause for similar integration after times of change and personal growth. So often, we move right on at our same pace and shift our attention to the next thing.

So my suggestion today is to use this first week of September to pause and reflect on your summer. Give yourself an hour out in the sun to think back to all the areas where you grew. August 12th brought a solar eclipse at the Leo south node. August 27th/28th bring a lunar eclipse in Pisces. This two-week stretch we’re in, smack between them, is a period astrologers call the “eclipse corridor”, a kind of portal where we witness old stories loosening their grip, but still have to wait for new ones to show themselves. You might be feeling off, or pulled into a quiet pause… maybe conversations are landing strangely… or maybe you feel a pull toward something you can’t really name. One fact has my brain straight up spinning. The actual physical matter of the universe, planets, stars, all of it, adds up to something like one one-thousandth of one percent of everything that exists. The rest is field. Frequency. Energy, in a form we mostly ignore. It's the same story at the smallest scale, too. An atom is almost entirely empty space, 99.9999% of it. So what we call solid is basically a… rounding error.

Watching scientists and thought leaders talk about frequency as data vs concept validated a part of me that’s spent years diving into energy work, somatic work, sound healing, and other esoteric modalities… But, more than anything, the feeling when you hear truth? That vibrates inside of you in a different way. And I believe that validation has everything to do with the businesses so many of us are trying to build right now

Almost everyone treats the visible sliver as the whole business… and then wonder why something the strategized the hell out of didn’t land. It’s because the felt layer (the coherence underneath the words) wasn’t considered, built out, or is actively contradicting them. People subconsciously pick up on that and either click away or instantly disconnect.

There’s a reason the old structures, those built entirely around the visible sliver, are cracking wide open right now. They no longer fit us as a collective and they definitely didn’t account for the whole field.

If you’ve read this far, you don’t need a researcher on a stage to tell you your business is energetic. You already feel it when a launch that worked on paper falls flat, or a random post outperforms a week of strategic content because you weren’t performing when you recorded it. You know there’s more to running a business than strategy.

We’re entering an era where brand relevance gets measured in resonance vs reach. I’ve been calling this collective shift the Resonance Economy. This concept is a consistent through-line of what I write here and the work I do with with clients. The idea is that we’re moving into a time where knowledge is seemingly infinite so we are left with resonance as our authentic differentiator.

And as the old structures are genuinely crumbling, someone has to build whatever comes after them. That's us. We came here, during this time, to be builders of a new world. If resonance is our new currency, then frequency is our tool.

A thought for you on this beautiful Monday:

If matter is a rounding error and frequency is the rest of it, then the felt experience of your brand isn’t the soft, unmeasurable part of your business… it’s most of the business.

The lack of space has nothing to do with burn out and everything to do with simply being in it. And what a funny challenge it is to balance a full life while something else is clearly trying to open inside me.

This pull is toward more voice, more visibility, more community, more saying the real thing instead of the safe thing. Every time I reach for it, I run into the same wall.

So yes, I’m in a funky little waiting period. At least I’m able to identify that it’s the kind of liminal space that comes right before expansion.

Whether it’s the podcast I’m starting with a friend, the sound healing course I signed up for on impulse, the screening with a live Q&A that has nothing to do with client work (and everything to do with something in me wanting to be fed), or the keynote draft I’m itching to finish, it’s all the same hunger.

I want more of my voice. More input that inspires me. And more room to take up space.

If you know me IRL, you know patience has been one of my greatest lessons in this lifetime. 44 years in and I’m still working on it – despite my Sun being ruled by Saturn and my having a Libra stellium (you’d think taking things slow would come more naturally).

In a funny twist of a metaphor, I’m just now taking the steps to correct my tongue tie, after going down a rabbit hole of research into how it connects to so many underlying tensions and physical issues I never thought to trace back. I’ve started myofunctional therapy to prepare physically for the release. It’s no small undertaking. An hour and a half each way, daily exercises… It’s a real commitment for something I know will bring overwhelming release.

I can’t stop thinking about the timing. The exact season I’m feeling the loudest pull to speak, to be on camera, to stop editing myself down, is the same season I’m doing all this quiet, unglamorous, daily work on the one part of my body that makes speech possible in the first place. Oh, the irony.

Our family trip to Japan last month cracked something open in my 4-year-old. Food, art, a version of the world bigger than the one he knows at home. He grew daily, before our eyes. And then we came home and ran straight into some major parenting wars. Listening, control, each conversation turning into very loud negotiations every. single. day.

What’s interesting to see is just how much my parenting is also calling for expansion. I used to be afraid of one thing as a parent: keeping him safe. Now the fear has so many more rooms in it: what he’s taking in, what he’s absorbing about the world, what experiences are forming his view on life. Now we’re wondering constantly about how we give him both freedom and a container at the same time.

And as I keep watching him push against every container I put up this summer (wanting more room, more say, more of his own voice in how his days go), I recognize it, because I’ve been doing the exact same thing in my own work. Somewhere in the same stretch of weeks, that wanting showed up for me too: a major pull to stop playing it safe in how I talk about what I do, and to let the work sound as expansive as it actually is.

I know I’m not the only one in this particular season. Every woman I’ve sat across from lately (I recently had the kind of dinner with a group that fills you all the way up) has been circling some version of the same thing. A desire to be more visible, find more connection… but they’re also being asked to wait for some of it while life works its way through their own obstacles.

A client was just in town to work with me for a few days where we focused, almost completely, on finding HER voice. And the healing I was able to witness first-hand was… beautiful. Helping her find hers while I'm still working to find mine, that's not lost on me.

I’m not going to pretend I’ve made peace with waiting. But I’m getting better at identifying the why’s behind a wait. Understanding that the waiting is doing its own something as well. The therapy of it all is slow and unglamorous and building toward a release I can’t rush no matter how ready I feel. Maybe that’s true of everything else on my list too.

If you’re in a season like this, full of pull and short on room, here’s your reminder that waiting is just a part of expansion nobody posts about.

You can choose to let it be slow, daily, and unglamorous.

I’ve never been great at naming businesses. I’ve hosted plenty of naming strategy workshops in my day, and I can definitely steer a client in the best direction, but when it comes to my own business… it’s hard. My first foray into entrepreneurship was named after myself (Jessica Sutton Graphic Design, later shortened to JSGD, whose acronyms were forever mispronounced by clients and friends). So when it came to business number two, the approach was entirely –and unintentionally– different.

The words

It was 3am, I was half asleep, and for lack of any other term, I work up to a legit download. Two words simply arrived in my head: terre prana.

With them came a phrase, that kept repeating: “connecting the space between thought + action + body + earth.”

I memorized it, wrote it down, and attempted to go back to sleep.

I didn’t know what it was. I genuinely didn’t have a category for it. But I knew it was something I’d build (and yes, I bought the domain name immediately). Maybe a skincare line? I’d spent years helping brands in that space launch and find their footing, and I loved that world. Maybe a curated shop, with handmade finds from artisans I’d discover in different corners of the world? I held the name loosely and genuinely wasn’t pushing it into a shape.

And honestly? It didn’t dawn on me that it would become this. Not for three more years.

What eventually emerged as Terre~Prana wasn’t something I designed or engineered from a strategy session. It arrived the same way the name did: through a kind of internal listening that, once I finally named it, turned out to be the whole point of the work. The name wasn’t waiting for a business to attach itself to. It was waiting for me to catch up to what it already knew.

The Meaning

Terre.
French for earth, ground... but extended in concept to matter, weight, stability, and roots.

Prana.
Sanskrit for life force, breath... the current moving through everything alive. Not just the air you inhale, but the animating intelligence powering life.

Put them together and you get: breath of the earth. The life force of matter itself.

And the tilde between them isn’t a stylistic choice. A hyphen connects. A slash separates. A tilde moves. It’s a wave, a vibration, a bridge between two things that belong together but aren’t the same thing. It’s a breath between. It’s the whole essay, actually, in a single piece of punctuation.

The space we live in

Here’s something that tends to land differently when you really sit with it: we don’t live on the earth or in the sky, but in the thin, charged layer between them.

That atmosphere (the biosphere, technically) is the only place where life as we know it exists. Ground below, space above, and us suspended in this breathing envelope in between.

It’s where your business lives too.

Not in the strategy deck. Not in the spreadsheet. Not in the content calendar or the launch plan or the perfectly worded offer. Your business lives in that in-between space where your internal state meets the outside world and becomes something other people can actually feel.

Think about the founders you’ve encountered who seem to have everything dialed in from the outside: the tight messaging, the consistent aesthetic, the smart positioning. And yet something about them doesn’t quite land. You can’t articulate why. You just feel it.

And then think about the ones who maybe aren’t doing everything “right” by the conventional metrics but their presence still stops you mid-scroll. You feel them before you’ve processed a single word.

Terre~Prana is named after that space. The charged layer between ground and breath. Between earth and air. Between who you are inside, what you’re creating, and how it’s felt.

We’re transmitters

Most of us were taught to think about our businesses as something we build outward. We produce content, craft offers, refine our messaging, optimize our positioning. The focus is too often put on more, better, and faster output.

And sure, that framework made sense for a while... but we’re in a different moment now.

The HeartMath Institute has been studying the electromagnetic field generated by the human heart for decades. That field is real, measurable, and it extends beyond the body (up to 8 feet!). What you’re feeling and what’s happening in your nervous system is literal broadcasting.

So when I say you’re a transmitter, I don’t mean it as a metaphor. I mean that your internal state (your regulation, your clarity, your coherence, the stories running underneath your surface) is being felt by the people around you, including the people who read your words, listen to your voice, or step into your offers. Whether you’ve consciously chosen what to transmit or not.

Which means all the surface-level brand work in the world won’t save you if what’s underneath it is misaligned. The caption won’t land if the nervous system writing it is contracted. The offer won’t convert if the energy behind it is desperate. The positioning won’t stick if the founder hasn’t yet embodied what they’re claiming to stand for.

The transmission is the brand.

The symbology

If you’ve looked closely at the logo I designed for Terre~Prana logo, you’ve seen it.

Two circles, same size, each one passing through the other’s center point. Where they overlap, an almond-shaped space appears. That shape has a name: the vesica pisces. And it’s one of the oldest sacred geometry symbols we have access to. It has always shown up, across traditions and cultures and centuries, as a natural expression of how creation works.

The geometry is specific. Each circle must pass through the other’s exact center, resulting in the inevitable product of two things fully meeting.

That overlap is creation.

This is a perfect example of where of two things becomes a third, without compromise.

It’s also one of the oldest symbols of the divine feminine for this reason. Not because it’s soft or passive or decorative, but because it’s generative. It’s literally the geometry of a womb-space and inception.

I could argue that it could be viewed as the geometry of magnetism. Not necessarily the mechanics of attraction (the pushing, convincing, or optimized funnel), but the actual physics of it. Two fields with real coherence, meeting in the middle, generating something neither one could produce alone. That’s the overlap, the charge.

Brand Somatics™ enters the chat

So the name arrived before the work… and the work spent three years catching up to it.

Brand Somatics™ is the methodology that makes all of this livable.

Not just philosophical, but practical. Because here’s the thing: you can totally understand everything I’ve just written and still be broadcasting misalignment. Understanding it isn’t the same as embodying it. We all know the body keeps its own ledger.

Just like traditional business concepts, traditional brand strategy focuses outward: messaging, positioning, identity systems, visual language. And those things do matter. Hell, I built a twenty-plus-year career in that space and I still care deeply about the craft of it. But they’re the outer ring. They express what’s already true inside, and when the inside and outside are out of sync, the gap is palpable.

Because when your nervous system is regulated, your message lands. When your body is grounded, your community feels it. When you’re in coherence (genuinely, not performatively) you stop having to push your brand toward people and start becoming something they’re drawn toward.

That’s the work. That’s what Terre~Prana was always pointing at. The name was the instruction. I just needed time to understand what it was instructing.

It’s a strange thing to admit, especially for someone whose entire practice is built on speaking: on coaching calls, on content, on helping founders find clarity through conversation. But it’s true, and it’s something I’ve spent the last ten or so years learning to understand about myself.

There’s a moment, right before I start talking about my own work, where I go quiet. Not intentionally. It’s like my nervous system hits pause. I’m searching for the right words, the prepared words, the ones that won’t betray how uncertain I still feel about naming what I do.

So sometimes I start off by repeating the same script, like lines I’ve already said on Substack, phrases I’ve tested in conversation or on TikTok… safe language, known language.

But then something always clicks and the words just come. They tumble out, one after another, without me reaching for them. And they’re confident, they’re true, they resonate.

What I’ve learned is that this is simply how I’m wired. I’m a channel.

Instead of coming from preparation, my words come through presence. And once I stopped fighting that and started trusting it, everything changed.

Now, not everyone works this way. Some people think before they speak, prepare before they perform, outline before they write. That foresight is a gift too. A Throat Chakra block there might look like trusting in themselves to remember the words the prepared. For those of us who receive knowing before we have language, a block is more about trusting that those words will arrive at the right time.

I’m sharing all of this because the Throat Chakra is still, genuinely, where I do my hardest personal energy work. It’s definitely not a block I’ve overcome. I’m actively in relationship with it. And if you’re reading this nodding along, I’m sure you are as well.

The Bridge to Transmission

The Throat Chakra (Vishuddha in Sanskrit, meaning “purification”) is the fifth energy center in your body. But while we all think it’s only about communication, it’s something far more critical: it’s the bridge.

Think of your body’s energy like a transmission system. Your root grounds you. Your sacral holds your creativity and intuition. Your solar plexus houses your power and confidence. Your heart centers your compassion and resonance. All of that knowing, all of that wisdom, all of that creative fire lives in the lower and middle chakras.

The Throat Chakra is the gateway between the lower chakras (where you know things, where you feel things, where you create) and the upper chakras (where you see the big picture, access your intuition, connect to purpose). When it’s open and flowing, what you know internally becomes what the world receives. Your heart’s wisdom becomes audible. Your creative vision becomes speakable. Your intuition becomes actionable.

When it’s blocked? Everything stays trapped inside.

This is where Brand Somatics becomes essential. Your brand isn’t just a business, it’s an extension of your nervous system. And if your Throat Chakra is blocked, your brand will reflect that silence. Your message won’t land. Your authenticity won’t transmit. People won’t feel you, even if everything on the surface looks right.

How Throat Chakra Blocks Show Up in Personal Life

A blocked Throat Chakra doesn’t always look like silence.
Sometimes it looks like this:

The Script.
You repeat the same phrases, the same stories, the same explanation of who you are — because at least those have been tested. Variation feels risky. New words feel dangerous. So you stay in the safety of what’s already been said.

The Fear of Speaking Without Knowing.
You’re afraid to open your mouth unless you already know what’s going to come out. Spontaneity feels reckless. Real-time knowing feels unsafe. You need the words pre-planned, or you don’t speak at all.

The Silence in Crowds.
You know what you want to say, but something stops you. A dinner party. A networking event. A moment where you’re supposed to introduce yourself. Instead, you get quiet. You let others speak. You fade into the background.

Difficulty Claiming Your Truth.
Even when you know something is true –about yourself, your boundaries, your needs– saying it out loud feels impossibly hard. There’s a gap between what you know and what you’re willing to voice. And that gap creates shame.

Suppression and People-Pleasing.
You prioritize what others need to hear over what you actually need to say. Your words become curated for approval instead of truthful. You become a translator of other people’s expectations instead of a speaking to your own reality.

The Caretaker’s Silence.
You’re used to listening, to holding space, to putting others first. Speaking your own needs and stating your own boundaries feels selfish. So you stay quiet and the resentment builds.

All of these are forms of the same block: the inability or unwillingness to let what you know internally become what you speak externally.

How Throat Chakra Blocks Show Up in Business

For founders and creators, a blocked Throat Chakra shows up in very specific ways.

Your brand goes quiet or repetitive.
You use the same messaging over and over because you’re afraid to experiment. Your voice feels polished but hollow, like you’re reading from a script instead of speaking from presence. Your content doesn’t land the way you want it to, even though strategically, it should.

You hesitate to claim your expertise.
You know what you do works. Your clients tell you it works. But when it comes time to actually say that you’re an expert, something stops you. Imposter syndrome takes over. You soften your language. You add disclaimers. You make yourself smaller.

Your communication feels inauthentic because it is.
You’re not speaking from your actual knowing, but from what sounds marketable, professional, or like what a founder is supposed to say. And people feel that distance. They sense the performance.

You sound like everyone else.
When you struggle to articulate what makes your work different, you end up relying on generic terms and find safety in sameness. Your unique perspective stays locked inside. Your actual point of view never reaches your audience. And your brand becomes invisible in a sea of similar voices.

Resonance = Trust

We’re moving into what I call the Resonance Economy: a world where information is infinite, but presence is rare. Where knowledge can be replicated, but authenticity and frequency cannot.

In this new economy, your Throat Chakra is no longer optional because it’s quite literally your competitive advantage.

Because when you can transmit your truth without the filter of fear or performance, people feel it. They trust you. They don’t just understand your message intellectually; they experience your coherence. And coherence is what creates resonance.

But here’s the thing: you can’t transmit what you’re afraid to speak.

If your Throat Chakra is blocked, you’re operating at half capacity. You’re trying to build a brand in the Resonance Economy with a broken bridge. All your inner wisdom, all your creative power, all your hard-won clarity — it stays stuck behind the blockage.

Rebalancing

Somatic Practice

Humming and Toning.
Find a comfortable seat or standing position. Close your eyes. Take a deep breath in through your nose, and as you exhale, let a gentle hum vibrate through your throat. Don’t overthink it, just feel the vibration. Continue for 5–10 breaths. You might feel the sound in your chest, your throat, even your skull. That vibration is activating the Throat Chakra and clearing stagnation. The Sanskrit mantra for the throat is “HAM”. If you want to tone with a specific sound, you can use that. But humming works just as well.

Fish Pose (Matsyasana) and/or Camel Pose (Ustrasana).
Fish Pose opens the throat and chest, allowing energy to flow upward. Done restoratively, by lying on your back with a block under your shoulder blades, head gently falling back, it becomes meditative, softening both the Throat and Heart Chakras simultaneously. Hold for 5–10 breaths and let gravity do the work.

Camel Pose offers a deeper opening: on your knees, press your hips forward and gently arch your spine, bringing your hands to your heels or keeping them on your lower back. This pose combines heart opening with throat activation, a beautiful physical clearing of the bridge between the two. Hold for 3–5 breaths and come out mindfully.

Energy Healing.
If you have access to an energy healer or Reiki practitioner, throat work can be incredibly powerful, especially when the block has deep roots. But while energy healing supports the process, the real work comes from understanding why you’re afraid to speak and moving through that fear. Like therapy, addressing the root cause will always take you further than releasing the symptom alone.

Speaking Practice

Voice Memos, Voice Note, Marco Polo. Find a trusted friend and send them a voice note (my closest friends and I love Marco Polo) while driving – or use voice memos on your own. Hit record. Speak about something you’ve been struggling to articulate. Listen back if you want, but don’t re-record. The first take is the channeled take... and it’s the closest to your truth. For those of us who find words in motion rather than in preparation, this practice builds trust in real-time knowing. And that trust, over time, changes everything.

Speaking While Moving. Bi-lateral movement helps unblocks the Throat Chakra. Try filming short videos while walking — hit record with one thought, speak until it completes, stop at a natural break. The constraint of motion prevents overthinking. Your words come faster, your authenticity comes through, and the cringe you feel is just the gap closing between your performing self and your true self (trust me: it will lessen over time).

Trusted Conversation. Speaking your ideas out loud to someone you trust (a friend, a partner, a coach, a mentor) is one of the most powerful Throat Chakra practices there is. Not to perform or convince, but really just to think out loud and let your words find their shape in real time. Notice how differently you speak when you’re not trying to be perfect.

Brand Integration

Choose one place in your brand where you’ve been playing it safe (a bio, a sales page, an offer description) and rewrite it as if you were speaking it out loud to someone you trust. Read it aloud when you’re done. If your throat softens, your breath deepens, and your shoulders lower, you’re on the right track. Good job.

Reflections

• Where have I been staying quiet in my business to stay safe?

• What would I say if I trusted that the right words would arrive?

• Where is my brand’s voice most alive — and where is it performing instead of transmitting?

Watching it happen, I keep thinking: I’ve been here before.

Not here exactly. But close.

In 2008, I started my first studio, JSGD, out of a pure love of helping pre-founders bring their visions to life through logo and web design. We were moving fast, severely undercharging, and pouring everything we had into turning someone’s dream into something real and visible in the world.

That first moment of delivering a brand and watching a founder’s face light up… I was completely hooked.

But looking back honestly, we were always treating design as the solution...
Good design will make this brand a success. Nail this logo and everything else will follow. Make this site pixel-perfect and it will convert…

We were building beautiful things on foundations we hadn’t fully examined yet. And I simply didn’t know what I didn’t know.

Then came the years that changed everything (though not in the way I expected).

After closing my studio, I immersed myself in ethnographic and qualitative research for Fortune 500 brands. Serious, patient, methodical work. The kind where you don’t touch a single design decision until you’ve done all the research. You sit with what you find. You let the insights lead. You start to develop a tolerance for not knowing yet, because rushing to the answer before the question is fully formed produces work that doesn’t hold.

That level of patience literally rewired me.

And slowly, a question started forming:

What if I applied this same depth of research to founders? Not outward, to the market, but inward, to them? To their energy, their vision, their blocks, their bodies?

That question became Brand Somatics™. And Brand Somatics™ became the cornerstone of my business.

Now, every engagement at Terre~Prana begins with a coaching pathway — a process where we do the inner work before anything else. For pre-founders, that’s the Spark Path. For founders in evolution, it might be the Alignment Path into a rebrand, the Amplifier Path or the Organizer Path into a design retainer. The entry point changes but the principle doesn’t: alignment as the strategy, design as the expression of that.

I don’t think it’s a coincidence that this particular cohort of pre-founders are launching right now, in this exact moment.

We’re in the middle of something rare in the sky.

April 2026 is carrying a seven-planet stellium in Aries (Sun, Moon, Mercury, Mars, Saturn, Neptune, and Chiron). If you’ve been feeling an unusual sense of urgency lately, a restlessness, a feeling that something has been waiting long enough, well, this is why.

Aries is the energy of initiation. The first spark. The part of us that says enough preparing, enough waiting, enough wondering if the timing is right. It’s the sign of personal rebirth and bold, unapologetic beginnings.

But this stellium has unusual depth to it, because Saturn is in the mix.

Saturn in Aries doesn’t just want action, it wants accountable action. It’s asking: is this built to last? Does this reflect something true? Are you initiating from clarity, or from urgency? It brings structure to the fire, which means the things born under this energy have a chance to actually hold.

And then there’s Neptune, also in Aries, adding a more mystical undercurrent. Neptune dissolves what isn’t real. It asks us to feel our way toward what’s true rather than think our way there. So underneath all this bold Aries fire, there’s an invitation to stay connected to something quieter: your intuition, your body, the part of you that already knows.

The peak of this energy arrives around the New Moon on April 17th. Think of this as a true reset point. A moment of collective beginning. The kind of sky that doesn’t just support new starts, but literally calls for them.

If you’ve been sitting on a business idea, a rebrand, a creative direction that keeps tugging at you… the cosmos isn’t being subtle right now. This is the moment to take that first step.

And here’s what I find funny, in the most surrendered sort of way:

I didn’t set out to work with pre-founders through Terre~Prana. Truly. I only added The Spark Path as an offering at the end of last summer, almost as an afterthought, a quiet acknowledgment of something I kept being pulled toward.

And then, somehow, they found me.

Women on the edge of beginning. Sitting on ideas they hadn’t yet named. Feeling the pull to build something but not quite knowing where to start or whether they were ready.

I didn’t advertise for them. I didn’t set a strategy to attract them. They just... arrived.

Which makes this moment feel less like a business decision and more like a homecoming. Like what I’m here to do has a way of finding its way through, no matter how many times I try to map a different route.

Eighteen years after opening my first studio, here I am again, watching pre-founders step into their first brands for the first time. And I’m still hooked on that face, still believing there’s nothing quite like helping someone see themselves reflected back, clearly and beautifully, for the first time.

Just with a whole lot more patience, depth, and soul than before.

The other side of what? I’m not sure. But something has clearly shifted.

Whether it’s the new astrological year, crossing over the Spring equinox, wrapping up Mercury in retrograde… or perhaps it’s the broader worldwide shift with more and more people reconnecting with themselves, healing, aligning… whatever it is, I’m feeling it.

But I’m also feeling all of it – the weight of collective grief that seems to accumulate faster than we know how to process it. Especially as we greet every hour with new headlines.

And yet life keeps moving. After a whirlwind work trip to NY, then my son’s school break, the lack of routine has me wondering which way is up. I’ve been in a time warp. I’m craving steadier ground, community, routine, regulation.

Dimensions as perspectives vs places

We hear these words thrown around constantly: dimensions, timelines, 5D, new earth… and I think so many of us picture them as destinations. Somewhere to ascend to, a different plane to travel to, a layer of reality we’re trying to access. But the more I sit with it, the more I believe they’re not places at all. They’re ways of seeing.

What if the “dimension” you’re operating in is the lens through which you’re experiencing your life right now… the perspective you’re choosing? The 5D shift we talk about doesn’t mean leaving the old Earth behind, but showing up to the same life with a fundamentally different orientation. When I talk about this in business, it’s more a matter of rethinking our approach to crafting brands so that they lead with purpose, centering human needs and connection.

I’m seeing this more and more in my own day-to-day: the external circumstances haven’t changed, but when my inner frequency does, everything looks different.

That is my own shift. It was here all along.

Frequency, regulation, and dream worlds

Schumann Pro v2

Okay, I have to talk about this because it’s been one of the most tangible experiments I’ve run in a while. I’ve been sleeping with a Schumann Pro v2 and my dream life, which I can only describe as always including major astral activity, has been amplified like nothing I’ve experienced before, especially when I tune it to 7.68 Hz.

I’ve been a vivid dreamer for years, but this feels different. My dreams have been much more grounded, intentional, multi-layered, and CLEAR.

During the work day, I’ve been testing different frequencies. 432 Hz has been supporting my creative flow and focus, meditating to some of the higher frequencies has been crazy in terms of activating my crown chakra, and I love that they include a breakdown of the planetary frequencies – you know, if you want to tune your energy to your favorite parent planet 😉

The 128 Hz tuning fork

Something I’ve been reaching for in the evenings, or whenever I feel dysregulated mid-day: a 128 Hz weighted tuning fork, placed directly on my chest.

Stick with me.

Tuning forks have been used in therapeutic settings for centuries, and 128 Hz is among the most commonly used frequencies in sound healing, for good reason. It’s considered a grounding frequency, associated with relaxation and the stimulation of nitric oxide release, which supports circulation and helps reduce inflammation. The vibrations stimulate the vagus nerve, which plays a key role in activating the parasympathetic nervous system

Placing it on the chest, right over the heart center, feels like a reset button I didn’t know I had. The vibration moves through you in a way that’s hard to describe… less like sound and more like a reminder that your body knows how to come back to itself. I’ve been using it in the evenings as a wind-down ritual, and on the days when the noise of the world feels like too much.

If you’re curious about starting: look for a weighted Otto 128 tuning fork (the weighted style is best for body contact and goes way deeper than an unweighted fork). I buy mine from Healing Sounds. Strike it gently against a rubber activator or the palm of your hand (I sometimes use my knee too) and let it do its thing.

Community as an anchor

I recently joined two communities, one focused on divine female leadership, and one centered on embodied astrology and sacred rythm… and I can’t overstate just how impactful it’s already been to have these groups of women to keep me anchored and grounded as the year unfolds.

And my mom-village? Boy, has she grown since starting preschool almost two years ago. I’m constantly amazed at the beautiful, deep friendships that have blossomed from this experience. The way we understand and help each other, even the little coffees or a knowing eyeroll during a kid’s meltdown — these keep us going.

And the ROI when you put your mental and emotional needs front and center is very real. It impacts your energy, your clarity, and yes, your work.

For the first time in my life, I feel genuinely supported, seen, invigorated, and inspired by my ever-growing community. It truly speaks to the power it can carry, in all of its forms.

I’ve been talking over on TikTok about how the systems we inherited weren’t built for the level of awareness we’re collectively stepping into now.

When systems begin to crack under that mismatch, they tend to get louder before they can evolve. This is called an extinction burst. We’re seeing that everywhere right now (especially in the patriarchy).

And yes, it’s heavy. Beyond heavy.
But there’s another way to look at this moment.

Whenever old structures begin to loosen their grip, something new has space to emerge. A different kind of leadership. A different way of working. A different vision for what business can be.

This is the part I’m trying to focus on.

Because every time you create something beautiful, thoughtful, or aligned with your truth, you’re helping build the world that comes next.

And in business, this looks like something very specific. Your work becomes a place where people experience a different frequency of the world, where leadership can be human and creativity and integrity exist alongside success. This is what I mean when I talk about The Energetic Business.

It’s not about strategy or visibility, but building work that carries light.

And sometimes, in moments like these, the most powerful thing we can do is simply follow what lights us up and let it ripple outward.

If you’ve been waiting for a signal, this is a pretty hard one to miss.

Today is one of those days where the sky, the calendar, and the collective field are all saying the same thing… and that thing happens to be exactly what I’ve been watching play out with clients over the last few months.

So let’s just say the thing out loud:

The Year of the Fire Horse began today. It arrives every 60 years. The last time was 1966, the year the counterculture cracked open, when old structures were refusing to hold and something new was demanding to exist.

In Chinese tradition, there’s a saying: “upon the arrival of a horse, success is secured.” But that isn’t a very passive promise. The Horse is an energy of movement. It punishes hesitation and rewards initiative. The Fire element underneath it doesn’t warm you slowly, but ignites.

And here’s what makes today’s beginning so specific: we’ve just come through the Year of the Wood Snake, a year of deep internal processing, of observing before acting, of gathering wisdom in the dark.

Take a moment to think of everything you clarified in 2025 – the vision you kept refining, the offer you kept adjusting, the message you kept almost-launching... All of it was the Wood Snake doing exactly what it was designed to do: preparing you.

Fire feeds on Wood.
The Snake’s wisdom becomes the Fire Horse’s fuel.
What you’ve been building internally is now ready to combust.

Today’s annular solar eclipse in Aquarius is the opening note of a two-year eclipse story we haven’t seen since 2017. Aquarius is the sign of radical individuality. Now, this isn’t individualism for its own sake, but the discipline of becoming so fully yourself that you make the whole network richer.

Please remember that eclipses aren’t meant for aggressive manifesting. It’s better to view them as portals for awareness. A time where something clicks into place that can’t be unseen. A shell cracks open.

And in the Resonance Economy (the one we are actively building into) that kind of clarity is the asset.

Not more content.
Not a better funnel.
Not another round of refinement.

The thing that makes your work land is the coherence underneath it: the alignment between what you’re transmitting and what you’re actually building.

That coherence doesn’t reveal itself through more planning, but through motion.

Three days from now, Saturn and Neptune meet at 0 degrees of Aries. Yes, the most initiatory coordinate in the zodiac. The last time these two planets conjuncted, it was 1989. The Berlin Wall fell. Old structures didn’t just change, they literally dissolved.

Saturn = structure.
Neptune = dream.

When they meet at the beginning of everything, the question being asked is: what are you courageous enough to build from your vision rather than fear?

This is not a theoretical question.

For anyone trying to build something that matters, this is the operating tension of this entire chapter:
~ Can you let the dream become structure?
~ Can you let the vision become a decision?
~ Can you stop waiting for conditions to be perfect and trust that motion itself is how clarity arrives?

Across every tradition marked today (the Islamic new moon that opens Ramadan, the Hindu lunar observance, the Buddhist and Chinese celebrations of renewal) the same arc is present:
A period of deep internal work reaches its conclusion.
Something that was dormant is asked to emerge.
Purification becomes possibility.
Darkness becomes the ground for new light.

The Resonance Economy doesn’t reward the most polished, but the most coherent. And coherence isn’t built in the planning doc. It’s built in the doing, the adjusting, the trusting-what-you-transmit enough to actually transmit it.

So here’s your invitation, from me, on a day where quite literally every clock and calendar and planet is pointing in the same direction:

The world is… well there aren’t the right words for what the world is right now. Political instability. Families being torn apart. Friends and neighbors hurting on the front line. Systems that are trying to force us to harden, numb, disassociate, or look away.

This is when the heart chakra becomes essential. I’m not talking about it in regards to sentimentality, but in leadership and in standing our ground while staying open.

Connection, Compassion, and Coherence

To set the stage, the heart chakra lives in the center of the chest, ruling breath, circulation, our capacity to give and receive. Energetically, it’s the bridge between the lower chakras of survival and power and the upper chakras of expression and vision.

In business, this energetic center governs connection and magnetism. It shapes how it feels to be in relationship with your brand. It’s the difference between transactional messaging and resonance, between an audience that watches and a community that feels held.

When the heart is open, your brand doesn’t need to convince because it invites… and people feel you before they understand you.

The heart chakra controls our resilience. Our ability to stay present without collapsing. Our ability to feel grief without shutting down, to lead without becoming rigid, to avoid disassociation and meet each day with empathy and energetic integrity. This is 5D consciousness in practice.

How Imbalances Show Up in the Body

When the heart chakra is under strain, the body will tells us first. Tightness in the chest. Shallow breathing. Rounded shoulders. A sense of pressure or heaviness that makes it hard to fully expand your chest.

You might notice fatigue from emotional holding or bracing throughout the day. The nervous system is doing its best to protect you by closing off sensation.

In collective moments of fear and injustice, this is a common response. The body contracts to survive. We’re hunched over our phone, doom-scrolling and holding our breath while watching the unfathomable unfold. It makes sense this chakra would be closed off right now.

The work to rebalance is never to force openness, but to gently restore safety so openness becomes possible again.

How Heart Imbalances Show Up in Business + Brand

In your brand, a blocked or guarded heart chakra often looks like distance.

Messaging that feels polished but… cold. A tone that stays informational instead of relational. Holding your audience at arm’s length because being seen feels risky. Filtering out of fear.

You might notice a lack of resonance even when you’re doing everything “right.” Content goes out, but connection doesn’t come back. Offers feel effortful to sell. Engagement feels thin.

This isn’t a strategy problem. It’s a protective pattern.

In unstable political and social climates, those questions intensify. The instinct is to harden, neutralize, or stay silent. But neutrality is not the same as safety, and distance is not the same as boundaries.

Many founders are unconsciously asking: Is it safe to care this much? Is it safe to let people see and feel me right now? My answer: yes.

Softness as Strength

I work with so many founders who feel this tension deeply. Each want to lead with empathy while still witnessing and processing. They want to build businesses rooted in care, integrity, and long-term vitality, even as louder models reward urgency and spectacle.

One founder shared that she felt her brand had gone quiet. Not because she lacked ideas or an opinion, but because she was afraid of saying the wrong thing. Afraid of opening her heart in a moment where a misstep could negatively impact her business.

As we worked through this somatically, we realized together that the insight wasn’t about the messaging, but about the permission – permission to let her brand be human. To speak from care instead of certainty. To trust that resonance doesn’t require perfection, only presence.

When she softened and opened up, her audience felt it immediately. Not because she took a political stance for visibility’s-sake, but because she chose human connection. She chose leadership rooted in softness, strength, and resilience.

Rebalancing the Heart: From Body to Brand

Somatic Practice

Sit or stand comfortably and place both palms over your chest. Inhale slowly into the heart space, letting the chest rise gently. Exhale and soften the shoulders and jaw. Do this for five to ten breaths, noticing any impulse to brace or hold. If it feels supportive, wrap your arms around yourself in a light self‑hug and breathe into the back of the heart. This practice helps restore a felt sense of safety and reminds the nervous system that openness doesn’t equal danger.

Brand Integration

Choose one place in your brand where you can lead with more warmth. An About page paragraph, a sales page line, or a post you’ve been holding back on publishing. Rewrite it from presence and self-awareness instead of protection. Notice how it feels in your body as you read it aloud. If your chest softens or your breath deepens, know that you’re on the right track.

Connection Ritual

Before sharing content or entering a client space, place a hand on your heart and set a simple intention. “May this come from care. May it reach who it’s meant for.”

Reflections

• Where have I closed my heart in my business to stay safe?

• What would it look like to stand my ground without hardening?

• How might my brand become a place of refuge rather than performance?

• When my heart leads, my business feels…

An Invitation

Energy‑first businesses are acts of world building. Every time you choose empathy, steadiness, and compassion you’re shaping a different future.

The heart chakra reminds us that magnetism can’t be manufactured. People don’t remember perfect messaging, but they do remember how your presence made them feel, especially in times of uncertainty.

And in a world that asks us to disconnect, I truly believe that keeping your heart open is a radical, resilient choice.

In astrology, the South and North Nodes tell a much deeper story about how you lead, build, and evolve. This is why they’re typically the first placements I look to when engaging with coaching clients.

Your South Node represents your comfort zone and past-life mastery. Think of it as holding your soul’s muscle memory. These behaviors, roles, and ways of operating feel second-nature because you’ve mastered them before. They’re real strengths… that can quietly keep you looping in familiar patterns. The invitation in this lifetime isn’t to discard these gifts, but to use them in service of your evolution vs as your identity. And when we cling to them unconsciously, they start to feel like spiritual quicksand.

Your North Node is different. Think of it less as a destination, but a direction and energetic pull forward for this lifetime.

It points to the qualities, roles, and environments that feel unfamiliar but deeply aligned with who you’re becoming. Moving toward your North Node feels uncomfortable at first, asking you to loosen all of those deeply ingrained behaviors and trust a new way of being. This is quite literally the path of expansion.

And of course, I see this play out in businesses all the time.

For example, my South Node is in Capricorn and my North Node is in Cancer. At 43, I’ve found myself releasing so much of the type-A, work-through-everything ambition that once defined my success. As a Capricorn sun, I felt this so deeply, wearing it almost as my entire identity. I laugh now at the large “HUSTLE” sign I loved in my old studio. In this new chapter of my life, I’ve found myself moving toward a more heart-centered life and career, one that honors care, presence, and sustainability.

I love working with the Nodes because they help explain why patterns repeat and where growth is actually asking for space. For the founders I work with, this creates permission to loosen old habits and build businesses that fit who they’re becoming, not who they had to be.

5 examples I’m always seeing:

1. Over-Functioning

Your South Node can shows up as doing too much of what you’re already good at.

This often looks like:
• Over-responsibility + taking on more than is actually yours
• Over-identifying with an old role that once earned praise or safety
• Over-relying on skills that kept things afloat in earlier seasons

At one point, these patterns were adaptive. They helped you build momentum, credibility, or survival. But over time, they can turn into exhaustion disguised as competence.

The business keeps working. You just feel increasingly depleted inside it.

2. Repeating Patterns

Many founders tell me, “I know better, but I keep ending up here.”

This often looks like:
• Same issues with clients.
• Same cycles of burnout.
• Same resistance around visibility, pricing, or leadership.

This is your South Node repeating itself, convincing you that familiar strategies can solve new problems. That if you just try harder, tweak more, or push through, the outcome will change.

I see these patterns as a signal that growth requires a different orientation vs more of the same.

3. Invisible Ceilings

When a business is built from the comfort zones of your South Node, growth can quietly stall.

Nothing is broken.
The system is just optimized for familiarity.

Comfort becomes the container, and that container eventually caps expansion. You might still be successful on paper, but something starts to feel tight, heavy, or misaligned.

This is when founders feel “off” without knowing why. The business works, but it no longer reflects who they’re becoming. I see this so much with my Re-Alignment clients!

4. Growth Edges

Your North Node points to the direction your leadership is learning to trust.

This can include:
• New boundaries
• New ways of being seen
• A different relationship to control, success, or authority

North Node territory almost always feels awkward before it feels natural. There’s often a phase of cringe, uncertainty, or vulnerability as your system learns to operate differently.

This is a sign you’re expanding beyond old identity structures.

And from my own personal experience, the more open you are (and less rigid in your beliefs), the easier this shift becomes.

5. Evolution Without Burnout

In coaching, we don’t abandon your South Node. We honor it.

It got you here.

At our core, the work we do in this lifetime is all about slowly building capacity to move toward our North Node in ways our nervous system can actually hold.

We’re not here to force identity shifts.
We ARE here to evolve and expand our perspective on life.

And when I talk about alignment between yourself and your business, this is it. This is how you evolve the two together, without burning yourself out in the process.

There’s a collective contraction happening… a push to hold everything together… a pressure to perform stability even when the ground feels beyond wobbly.

And in moments like this, founders tend to slip back into their oldest patterns:
~Over-working.
~Over-thinking.
~Over-performing.
~Trying to appear steady, capable, clear, collected.

I’ve felt it in myself this month and have been battling the instinct to always be the expert, to keep things polished, to stay “on” even when what I actually need is rest, honesty, or recalibration.

What I’ve learned is that the truth is simple:
~Performance blocks resonance.
~Pretending blocks momentum.
~Over-functioning blocks intuition.

And this season, more than any other, is asking us to soften and get honest about what’s actually going on:
~Where we feel tired.
~Where things are out of alignment.
~Where we’re pretending it’s fine.
~Where we’re carrying responsibilities that aren’t ours to hold.
~Where we need help, structure, or space.

There’s nothing weak about admitting any of this.

So here’s your permission slip:
~You don’t need to perform your way to December.
~You don’t need to have it all together.
~You don’t need to prove anything.
~You’re allowed to tell the truth about where you are.

Remember that clarity and alignment come from listening inward, not holding yourself together for everyone else. We’ve got this.

Standing on business

This contraction has been showing up in my sessions too. Almost every founder I’m working with is wrestling with some variation of the same theme, wanting to be seen clearly but fearing being misunderstood.

I wrote all about how to work with our solar plexus last month, and there’s nothing like subconsciously setting a tone or theme for the work ahead. What I’m learning is that when life feels chaotic, the solar plexus gets loud, telling us to tighten, control, push, keep it together.

The best way to quiet the fear-based demands and lean into its power? Relaxing into our center, trusting our rhythm, and allowing ourselves to be honest about what we need.

As above, so below

We’re in a moment when the sky and the world are quite literally telling the same story.

Mercury is retracing its steps (aka retrograde). Jupiter is pulling us inward. Pluto in Aquarius is revealing cracks in every system built on outdated power. At the same time, our political system is unraveling in ways that feel surreal… but not at all surprising.

Astrologically and collectively, the message is the same:
~Slow the F down.
~Review what you’ve built.
~Look closely at what no longer holds.

When the external world becomes unstable, the most powerful thing you can do is stay clear on your internal one. This week’s new moon opens a shiny + clean energetic window. With the next full moon on December 4, the lunar cycle beginning now is the last full creative arc before the holidays. Think of it as a moment to pause, reset, and choose what you want to bring to completion for early December.

As a Generator in Human Design, I’m wired to respond. So when an idea lands, my body lights up and I want to act on it immediately. The truth I’m forever learning, on repeat, is that not every spark is meant to be sprinted toward. Some ideas need space, gestation, the right season vs the right second.

If the root chakra is our foundation and the sacral chakra our flow, the solar plexus is where we start to radiate☀️☀️☀️. This is where our energy gathers, our power is claimed and expressed, and where founders tend to lose themselves in the age-old tension between confidence and control.

Located between the navel and the diaphragm, the solar plexus governs our sense of self, willpower, and confidence. It’s the center that asks: Who am I, and how do I want to move through the world?

This energy center governs how we show up in leadership. It’s what fuels our courage in decision-making, our clarity in communication, and the conviction to stand firmly (and confidently) behind our offers, pricing, and message.

Solar Plexus Imbalances in the Body

Physically, solar plexus imbalances often show up as gut tension, digestion issues, energy crashes, or adrenal fatigue. These are all signs of an overworked system. This is where the nervous system stores the pressure of performance. If the sacral governs flow, the solar plexus governs fire… and that fire can easily burn out.

Maybe you have a tendency to over-caffeinate in order to “push through,” or maybe you’ve found yourself with a lack of motivation that feels like hitting an invisible wall. Both are expressions of a dysregulated solar plexus: one that’s grasping for more energy, or one that’s shutting down from depletion.

Solar Plexus Imbalances in Business

In your brand, a blocked solar plexus often looks like:

• Undervaluing your work or hesitating to raise rates

• Avoiding visibility because you fear judgment

• Diluting your messaging to sound more “acceptable”

• Micromanaging or over-performing to feel in control

• Burning out from overextending or over-delivering

At its core, these patterns stem from a disrupted relationship with your own power. So many of us were conditioned to associate power with force (dominance, hustle, or hierarchy) instead of alignment and grounded authority.

For those familiar with Human Design, this is also where your Emotional Authority lives. Think of it as the energetic space where clarity comes from feeling. Whether your authority is emotional, sacral, splenic, or otherwise, the invitation is the same: to trust your body’s pacing and signals over the mind’s urgency. More about this here.

To put it clearly, when your solar plexus energy is clear, your business/brand stops performing confidence and starts embodying it. Your words land differently and your audience feels your certainty before you even speak it.

Invisibility and Disconnect

I’ve found myself thinking through the many examples of blocked solar plexus energy with my clients — from the typical imposter syndrome flare-ups to fear of failure or lack of confidence in pricing. But one conversation stands out as the perfect case study:

A Re-Alignment Path client shared how she felt increasingly disconnected from her business. On paper, it looked successful and polished, yet she was constantly exhausted and frustrated. Finally, she whispered, “I feel invisible in my business.”

That line made me pause. She was showing up. She was the face of the brand. So why did she feel invisible?

When we looked across her patterns and predispositions (a cluster of Virgo placements and an Enneagram Type 3), the recurring theme was perfection.

It became clear: every post, offer, and client interaction was about “doing it right” instead of “doing it real.” She had built a brand that looked strong, but energetically, it was running on fumes.

This is what I call performative business, the byproduct of an imbalanced or blocked solar plexus. The lack of conviction, confidence, and owned power forces you to fake it for so long that you can no longer see your authentic self in your own brand.

Authenticity itself is a frequency.

As we reconnected her to her body’s wisdom and her brand’s original purpose –remembering the why, listening to her body, removing the performance– something shifted. Her voice online softened and strengthened at once. Her offers changed subtly, but powerfully.

She began to lead from truth. Solar Plexus energy in motion. Power reclaimed. Resonance restored.

So how do we rebalance it?

When you feel disconnected from your power as a founder, the first step is to get honest and ask yourself:

• Where am I trying to force something that wants to flow?

• Where am I shrinking back when I could stand tall?

• Where do I still play small in my business?

• What truth is asking to be expressed more fully?

Since this is so related to self-doubt and located right near your diaphragm, breathwork is a key tool here:

Inhale deeply into the belly, exhale with a sharp, audible breath through the mouth.

Imagine each exhale clearing self-doubt.

Do this 5–10 times.

Then breathe normally and feel what shifts.

If you’re action-oriented, consider re-writing one line of copy (a bio, an offer description, a sales page headline) to sound clearer, bolder, and more direct.

It’s about remembering

Rebalancing your Solar Plexus isn’t about “fixing confidence.” It’s about remembering your inherent power. Trust in yourself is where aligned leadership begins… and your brand becomes magnetic when it carries that energy.

That’s what living in 5D consciousness is all about: remembering that you’re a soul who chose to experience this existence, you’re in control of your energy, that you hold all the wisdom and keys needed inside yourself.

Reclaiming hope

Many founders I’ve spoken with feel a growing disconnect from the businesses they built years ago. That disconnect isn’t random. They’ve evolved, but they haven’t paused to reflect that evolution into their business.

The same forces reshaping our collective systems are urging us to rebuild our inner ones.

Think of this time as a collective exhale. The energy that’s been stirring beneath the surface is ready to move through us.

It’s easy to default into discouragement right now. The collective field is thick with uncertainty, fear, and fatigue. The headlines are heartbreaking and… constant. But this is exactly where transformation begins.

Every time you choose to pause before reacting, to align before acting, to speak from your truth instead of fear, you ripple something new into the field.

You have permission to feel excited again. To dream again. To build something that feels alive.

Where to Start

These energetic shifts don’t need to feel abstract. There are many ways to move with this new energy, to deepen your resonance, and to build your next chapter with intention. A few starting points (and ways I can help):

Embodiment and awareness.

Close your eyes. Take three slow breaths and soften into your body. Imagine yourself as a tuning fork, your business humming with the same frequency you hold in your chest. With each breath, feel your resonance expanding outward… through your words, your offers, your leadership, your impact.

Of course, this made me think about what happens when we move through change in business. Most of us skip this step. We lunge into expansion without engaging our core, or creating the containment that allows transformation to feel safe in the body.

Containment as Flow, Not Control

In yoga, Uddiyana Bandha protects the lower back, stabilizes the pelvis, and channels prana upward. It gives structure to movement so energy can flow with integrity.

I always love feeling the energy shift in a yoga room. As everyone begins to fold forward, there’s that collective exhale —the sound of release— followed by the teacher’s cue: “lift through the belly, support the spine”. You can almost sense the recalibration ripple through the room. The shapes don’t change, but the energy does. It’s the difference between collapsing into a pose and moving through it with awareness.

In business, the same principle applies. Before you pivot, launch, or stretch into something new, you need to gather your energy. You need to activate your internal support so the system doesn’t collapse halfway through.

Sometimes that looks as simple as a pause and deep breath before sending an email. Other times it’s ensuring you have next week’s marketing plan mapped out before announcing a launch. If we don’t protect our core —our concept— we risk injury. Not to the body, but to the integrity of the work itself.

The Difference Between Clenching and Containing

In somatics, we often talk about using the practice of embodiment to release subconscious tension by unclenching the jaw, softening the belly, letting go.

But there’s another side to embodiment: knowing when to consciously engage.
To draw your energy in, not from fear but from intention.
To root, to hold, to meet what’s coming with strength instead of rigidity.

That’s the difference between clenching and containing.
Clenching is fear-based. Containing is preparation.
One limits flow. The other channels it.

We can’t talk about containment without also talking about contraction. Earlier this year, in Honoring the Contraction, I wrote about how healing, whether in the body or in business, doesn’t come from forcing tightness to release, but from meeting it with curiosity.

In somatics, a contraction is the information. The same is true in business. When something tightens —a plateau, a pause, a pattern— it’s often a sign that something deeper is trying to reorganize.

Containment is what lets us stay with that process. It’s the structure that allows the release to unfold safely, in time, without collapse.

Finding Your Uddiyana Moment

As founders, I think it’s so important to find our Uddiyana moment. Before we move into the next bend, we need to gather our center. We need to check our nervous system, tighten the weave of our energetic fascia, and remind ourselves: “I can hold what’s about to move through me.:

Some Reflection…

• What if we started treating every big change in business like a sacred posture?

• What if we reminded ourselves that every bend in our business deserves breath, containment, and conscious support?

• Where in your body do you habitually clench when you’re under pressure?

• What kind of support would help you move through change without collapse?

• What would shift if you treated preparation as part of the ritual of transformation?

Over time, I realized both my ideas and my nervous system needed more rhythm, more ritual, more space to breathe. So… I created a new process to slow my own process down.

Toward the end of August, I set an intention to move through this month with clarity, grounded energy, and a pace that feels sustainable. Aspirational? Sure. But despite all of the above, I’m actually am pretty proud to say it stuck.

I found spaces to ground myself. I took things slow. I completely surrendered to those 10 days of no childcare, enjoying the sweet moments we shared bumping around this amazing city.

I’ve always found the abrupt shift from August’s slower pace to September’s jolt of energy to be jarring. And that whiplash gets quickly camouflaged by our excitement to dive back into momentum (and our urge to overcommit). But beneath the surface, it takes a real toll on our energy, often leaving us burnt out before the fall equinox even arrives.

Anyways, here we are, on the 10th. How are YOU feeling?
